Corks, Canapés & Canvases Pairs Artist Series Label Artists with Local Wine & Food

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON, Aug. 6 /CNW/ - Hillebrand Winery is launching a new event that focuses on its Artist Series wines. Corks, Canapés & Canvases takes place on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 4 pm to 7 pm. The event will showcase select work of past and present Artist Series label artists. It will pair each artist with one of Hillebrand's VQA (Vintners Quality Alliance) Artist Series wines and a locally-inspired canapé created by Chef Frank Dodd. Canadian wine writer Billy Munnelly will host the event. Over 20 artists will participate in the event. Each have been featured on past or present Artist Series or Artist Series Limited Edition wine labels. They are all from Ontario and are all winners of the annual Artist Series Label Call for Art Contest. Each piece selected to be label art had to embody the 'Spirit of Ontario' theme.

'Wine is one of the few products that we buy without the opportunity to experience it. Hillebrand's Artist Series labels really help the wine shopper by giving a sense of the feeling or mood of the wine in the bottle. A picture is worth a thousand words,' said Munnelly.

'Hillebrand Winery has a great tradition of creating wines that reflect the terroir of Niagara. The Artist Series wines are the perfect example of this as they are light, fruity and fresh, all characteristics consistent with the spirit of Niagara wines. I am looking forward to this event as it celebrates the flavours of the region alongside artists from the same place,' said Craig McDonald, Winemaker, Hillebrand Winery
